Special awards were given by Mayor Daley during the event at the Union League Club.
The keynote speaker was a Medal of Honor winner who said America doesn't always treat its veterans the way they should be treated.
All of the service branches and the reserve officers training corps were represented.
May is National Military Appreciation Month.
