Those being awarded all get money from Housing and Urban Development to house low-income individuals. The apartment owners will be required to use the new grants to hire people to provide services to the frail elderly and people with disabilities.
Grants are going to two Chicago projects, Lathrop Elderly and Continental Plaza Apartments, and two Decatur projects, Oxford House and The Woods. Grants also were announced to Ridgewood Towers in East Moline and Westwood Terrace in Moline.
