Dalai Lama to discuss 'healthy minds' in Wisconsin

May 16, 2010 (MADISON, Wis.) The Dalai Lama's appearance at the Overture Center in Madison will help mark the opening of the Center for Investigating Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader will hold a one-hour dialogue Sunday afternoon with center director Richard Davidson. Gov. Jim Doyle will deliver opening remarks.

Davidson has worked closely with the Dalai Lama to study the impact of traditional Buddhist meditative practices on the brain and human emotions. He is studying how such practices can encourage healthy qualities of mind.
