The Chinese American Service League (CASL) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit community-based social service agency working with the Chinese community in the greater Chicago area.

CASL is the largest and most comprehensive social service agency in the Midwest dedicated to the needs of Chinese Americans. A significant portion of its clients are newly arrived immigrants. These individuals often do not have formal education, and possess few transferable job skills. Since 90% of them speak little to no English, they find themselves unable to easily partake of many social services. CASL is there to bridge that gap with over 280 multilingual, multicultural professional and support staff.

CASL goals :

  • Assist families to help upgrade their economic level and their strengthen family structures
  • Help clients ease the cultural transitions for themselves and their families into American society,
  • Engage in advocacy to achieve positive systemic social change.
  • Since its founding in 1978, CASL has successfully helped thousands of newly immigrated Chinese to become independent, productive members of society through its comprehensive programming. CASL's programs:

  • reach over 17,000 clients each year. CASL serves everyone who comes seeking services, but primarily serves Chinese Americans and Chinese immigrants in the metropolitan Chicago area, focusing on the Chinatown and Bridgeport neighborhoods.
  • have successfully helped thousands of newly immigrated Chinese become independent, productive members of society through its comprehensive programming offered through four departments: Family and Community Services, Child Education and Development Services, Elderly Services, Employment and Training .
