Weis' $310,000 a year contract expires next March.
Mayor Daley recently praised the job Weis is doing and has hinted that he may ask him to stay on. There have been reports that Weis would be asked to take a substantial pay cut if his contract is renewed.
"I haven't had any discussions with the mayor on that. I've always been a team player and at some point in time we will probably sit down and discuss that and look at my future right now we're just trying to combat crime and push that down," said Weis.
Weis came to Chicago after a long career in the FBI. He's been blamed for a drastic reduction in morale among the rank and file in the police department.
