Students launch statewide rally at colleges

May 20, 2010 (CHICAGO) Students from nine schools gathered at the University of Chicago on Thursday. They're asking university presidents across the state to become what they call "equal rights universities".

The students want the schools to commit to actions such as non-discrimination in admissions and campus education for undocumented students.

"Our campaign is not asking for special treatment or special consideration from the admissions office at the universities. What we are asking for is equal opportunity for undocumented students to prove that they are our future teachers doctors scientists and leaders," said one student.

The rally was hosted by the University of Chicago student group U-Chicago Coalition for Human Rights.
