Students walk out to protest Ariz. immigration law

May 21, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Protesters near Cermak and Ashland were mostly from Benito Juarez High School. There were similar protests at several other schools.

"This is our message to Obama: this is the youth, we're 18, we're turning 18, we're high school students, we're university students. We're here to say, if you don't pass immigration reform now, if you don't pass legislation, there will be no re-election," said one protester.

President Obama has referred to the Arizona law as a "misdirected expression of frustration." He is encouraging lawmakers to take up legislation that would deal with border security, employment and citizenship.
