Coach sues over knockoffs at Maxwell St. Market

May 21, 2010 (CHICAGO) Coach claims it has suffered substantial damages because city officials have not stopped the sale of counterfeit goods at the Maxwell Street Market.

The company says its investigators found fake Coach items last summer and police officers arrested two vendors, but nothing was done to stop others from selling the knock-off items.

A spokesperson for the city law department says lawyers have not seen the lawsuit, but an investigation into the claims is underway.
