41-year-old Eric Herner's death has been ruled a homicide.
Herner's girlfriend discovered his body in a pool of blood Thursday afternoon after going to his apartment in the 7400-block of Marshfield.
Herner grew up in Evanston and owned a home cleaning business.
Police are still looking for clues surrounding his death.
