All of the victims are believed to have been in their 20s.

The shooting happened in the 7600-block of S. Coles Ave. in the South Shore neighborhood shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, about two blocks away from Rainbow Beach.

Police were still gathering information at the scene of the shooting late Tuesday afternoon. The medical examiner has confirmed that all three are dead.

Information is still being gathered by police who are at the scene of the shooting which left all three victims, young men in their 20s, dead.

The three were shot in the head by the offenders, who ran up to them and then took off on foot.

People in the neighborhood, including relatives of one of the victims, still want to find out more details.

Preliminary reports suggest that the shootings were drug-related.

Two bodies remained at the scene after the shooting, and one victim was transported in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Relatives of one of the victims identify him as 25-year-old Christopher Jackson.

"It hurts. We are people and everybody matters," said Jackson's cousin, Josie Jackson. "No murder should go uncared for. This is ridiculous!"

Jackson was shot and killed on his birthday.

"Maybe we should have more cops on the street, patrol the street more, and try to get to the bottom of this and find out why and what's really bringing this on," said area resident Tina McCoy. "Why is there all the violence?"

Police Tuesday afternoon asked anyone with information to give them a call.
