Exercise may help depressed seniors

It is a type of exercise credited with physical and spiritual benefits.

There may be an additional advantage to older people who suffer depression.

The results of a study presented to the American Psychiatric Association are promising.

Researchers studied two groups of elderly depressed patients who were took anti- depressants.

One group also took a health education class and another group did Tai Chi Chih.

All of the patients were less depressed at the end of the study, but those in the Tai Chi Chih group showed significantly greater improvement in their quality of life.
