A Cook County sheriff's police officer was attempting to pull driver Hector Zuniga over Friday afternoon near 47th and Knox Avenue in an unincorporated area between Chicago and Stickney. A Chicago police officer arrived on the scene for back up.
Investigators say the driver put his vehicle in reverse, struck the sheriff's squad and then ran on foot. He then circled around and reportedly jumped into the empty sheriff's police squad and took off.
The Chicago officer pursued the squad. The suspect took off again on foot and was captured.
Zuniga faces multiple charges, including for possession of marijuana. A police statement says officers found 6 grams in the suspect's pocket.
