Fellow Chicagoans Common and Lupe Fiasco joined West on stage at Farragut Career Academy. The school is one of three the musicians are visiting to reward students for improving their grade point averages, attendance and behavior.
"We're proud of these students. Kanye was excited to spend his birthday…to be here," said Joseph Collins, Kanye West Foundation.
Farragut students sang 'happy birthday' to West, who turned 33 Monday.
The other schools he is visiting are Marshall and Julian.
