Locally, Streator and Dwight were hard hit when tornadoes ripped apart homes and buildings Saturday night.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the Illinois Department of Insurance will provide free, one-on-one counseling services at Streator City Hall, 204 South Bloomington Street, and Dwight Village Hall, 209 South Prairie Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
Department staff can assist with questions such as how to properly document storm damage, whether to make temporary repairs, what a consumer's homeowner policy covers, and what to expect during the claims process.
