Chicago's City Council passed a resolution Wednesday honoring police officer Thomas Wortham, who was fatally shot May 20.

City Clerk Miguel del Valle read the resolution to the aldermen. A large photo of Officer Wortham was in the council chambers. His parents wiped away tears as they listened to the tribute.

Police Superintendent Jody Weis attended as did a contingent of Chicago police officers.

Mayor Daley made a passionate plea for gun control then presented copies of the resolution to the officer's family.
