Thousands of runners in Chicago and Wilmette hit the streets for the 16th annual Jim Gibbons 5-K Traffic Jam.

The Chicago stretch of the race began in Grant Park Thursday evening and at the same time in Wilmette.

The races honor Jim Gibbons, a former reporter at ABC7 who died from leukemia in 1994.

Jeff Jonaitis and Christina Overbeck were the first place winners for the men and women's races in Chicago.
