Chicago public school students can take a break from the books - they are now on vacation.

Schools CEO Ron Huberman greeted students at Dominquez Elementary this morning as they began their last day of classes.

He encouraged parents to stay involved with their childrens' education this summer.

Safety is a concern for Father Michael Pfleger. He led a rally Friday night calling on Chicago residents to help keep children safe during the summer months.

Mayor Daley, Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis and Huberman joined him.
