Parking box company to resume writing tickets

June 19, 2010 (CHICAGO) Starting Monday, five additional ticket writers will join the 145 city and contract workers who already prowl the streets looking for violators.

The action by Chicago Parking Meters LLC is meant to increase its revenue. The company had stopped writing tickets last year amid a flurry of complaints about the parking boxes not working correctly.

But the city never stopped issuing tickets.

Chicago Parking Meters LLC paid $1.15 billion for a 75-year lease of Chicago's parking meter system.

The company plans to increase its number of employees the end of this year.
