Chicago cop charged with attempted extortion

Officer James Wodnicki is accused of soliciting a $150 payment from a tow truck operator who, at the time, was secretly working for the FBI.

Wodnicki is charged with one count of attempted extortion.

The case is the result of a five-year federal investigation known as Operation Tow Scam. So far it has led to charges against eight people, including five current or former police officers.
