It happened just after 1 a.m.
According to police, the victim and another person had just gotten off a casino bus and were walking down 23rd Street when they were robbed and attacked by a male suspect.
Some in the neighborhood say it's part of a disturbing trend.
"In the recent weeks we had a lot of armed robbery in the Chinatown neighborhood, mostly happening in the hours between midnight and 5 a.m.," said Dr. Kim Tee, Chairman of the Chinese-American Museum of Chicago.
Police are searching for a suspect.
Chinatown community leaders say they have formed a committee to work with the police department in combating neighborhood crime.
