A new exhibit called "Facing Freedom" opened on Independence Day at the Chicago History Museum.

It was inspired by the idea that the history of the U.S. has been shaped by conflicts over what it means to be free.

The exhibit doesn't just focus on wars, but also public protests, workers rights, and race and citizenship.

"Facing Freedom" is a permanent exhibit at the museum.
