McDonald's recalled the glasses after the Consumer Product Safety Commission warned of a risk that children could get small amounts of cadmium on their hands by holding the glasses.
A CPSC official says the agency is continuing to look at the issue.
The risk may extend beyond the Shrek glasses.
At this point the agency hasn't decided if other products should be recalled and is working to develop new limits for cadmium in other children's products.
