Groundbreaking for Irving Park Streetscape

July 6, 2010 (CHICAGO) Ald. Gene Schulter helped break ground on the new Irving Park Streetscape project. Phase One begins at the intersection of Irving Park, Lincoln, and Damen.

The $6-million project will add decorative lighting, planters and signs to highlight the neighborhood.

Alderman Schulter says the project will help develop the economy.

"This will help in terms of attracting additional stores and retail experiences into our community," said Schulter, who represents the 47th Ward.

The project is funded by tax dollars.

Phase Two of the project is scheduled to begin some time next year.
