Eighteen-year-old Erin Hughes is charged with driving under the influence in the accident on May 14.
Fellow New Trier student Sarah Goone suffered brain damage. Her family says the 16-year-old is doing well.
Hughes is free on bond and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing in two weeks.
