Chicago is getting $35 million in federal grants for two CTA bus projects aimed at speedy travel through downtown and between the South Side and the Loop.

Of the $35 million, $24.5 million will be used for a new express bus service between Union Station and Navy Pier. It will operate in designated bus-priority lanes and make selected stops along the way near CTA and Metra rail stations.

Eleven million dollars will be used for expedited bus service on Jeffery Boulevard from 103rd Street and Stony Island Avenue to Jefferson and Washington streets.
