North suburban Libertyville hosted the "Dockdogs - Big Air Dog Jumping" competition.
Dogs ran down a 40-foot-long dock and jumped into a 27,000 gallon pool.
The dog with the longest leap won.
150 nationally-ranked top jumping dogs competed, and local dogs also got the chance to try it out
Dozens of other dogs enjoyed some more relaxing recreation in Chicago.
Their owners treated them to a "Canine Cruise" on the Skyline Queen.
Dogs enjoyed a 90-minute tour of the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.
Sunday was opening day for the canine cruises.
They continue every Sunday through September, departing at 10 a.m. from the Michigan Avenue Bridge.
