New park dedicated in Bridgeport

July 17, 2010 (CHICAGO) The park is on Halsted Street between 27th and 29th streets in Bridgeport.

Mayor Daley was on hand for Saturday's ceremony.

The 27-acre park features a pond, a hill with a view of the skyline and lakefront, and trails.

The site had been a limestone quarry, and after that, it was a clean construction landfill.

It cost $10 million to convert the land, which was partly funded by an open space lands acquisition and development grant.
