The city's parking meter reserves are apparently dwindling, according to Wednesday's Chicago Sun-Times, which reports just $180 million remains from the $1.15 billion lease. The city leased the meters back in 2008.

In addition, the Sun-Times says, just $550 million remains from the lease of the Skyway back in 2005. That deal was originally worth $1.83 billion.

Both figures are as of December 31 of last year.

The news comes as Chicago faces a budget shortfall, reportedly approaching $700 million, and a preliminary budget must be released by the end of the current month.
