Brides make mad dash to find the perfect gown

July 23, 2010 (CHICAGO)

Filene's famous "running of the brides" stepped off Friday morning at the store on State Street. The gowns were all marked down at a fraction of the retail price.

The women snatched as many dresses as they could.

Many brides try them on right there out in the open.

Brides to be, their mothers and a few friends were involved in the big hunt.

"The women are rude. There were people here at 3:30 in the morning. We got here at 7:00 and the line was around the corner. Now it's just kind of frustrating," said Pamela Dixon, a bride to be.

Each brides who found a gown got her own "I survived the running of the brides" t-shirt.
