Mayor Daley nearly clocked by stray Sox bat

July 29, 2010 (CHICAGO) The mayor just missed being hit by a bat in the fourth inning when White Sox left fielder Andruw Jones fouled off a ball. He lost the handle on the bat, which went flying into the stands and narrowly missed Daley and the others right behind home plate.

"I ducked... like anyone else. It's just right there. It's the second time it's happened," said Daley. "It's over. It just happened so fast. Everyone was ducking so of course I ducked too."

The White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 6-5 Wednesday night for their 10th straight home win.
