Schools operating on a traditional schedule are back in session on Tuesday, September 7. Students who attend school year-round go back to class Monday, August 9.
Mayor Daley was at Saturday's event, which featured entertainment, arts and crafts and giveaways for the kids. He had some advice for parents.
"It's up to you to take that responsibility. It's not up to the police department. It's not up to the educators. Learning environment begins at home, begins in the community, begins in the church and the school. That is the issue right there," said Mayor Daley.
The Englewood Festival back to school event will be held at Ogden Park this Friday and the Logan square festival will be held at Humboldt Park on Saturday August 28th.
