Senior advisor Valerie Jarrett will be the grand marshal this year.
Jarrett has deep roots in Chicago. She served as executive vice president of The Habitat Company before she was tapped to join the Obama administration.
The parade marks back-to-school time for Chicago-area school students. It will be held Saturday, August 14, stepping off from 39th Street and Martin Luther King Drive.
ABC 7 will broadcast the parade live.
