President Barack Obama honored more than a dozen people-- including two Chicagoans-- for their exemplary deeds of good service. Thirteen people were at the White House to receive the 2010 Citizens Medal Award.

Recipient Daisy Brooks founded a dormitory and school to help young mothers and their infants on Chicago's North Side. Recipient Lisa Nigro was awarded for her mission to help those living on the streets of Chicago. She runs a restaurant that helps feed the homeless.

The Citizens Medal was established in 1969 and it's the second-highest civilian honor.
