Lollapalooza "Rock Star" Looks

August 5, 2010 (PRESS RELEASE)

If you want replicate the look of a current Lollapalooza headliner or are just looking to emulate an iconic figure then follow these easy steps from Halo's stylist Cassie Chapel and Kelly Cardenas Salon's Diana Monteleone to pull off signature "rock star" style while avoiding looking like a groupie.

Model 1
Benjamin Newby
Rock star Look: The Beatles
Hair Tips

This hairstyle is all about making the hair both heavy and smooth. The front should be at the eyebrow; anything above would make you look like Lloyd Christmas and anything longer would just drive you crazy. This cut is not ideal for clients who can't commit to regular touch-ups from the salon.

This look would be best cut with shears and there would be little texture to add. A good product for this look would be a styling cream or lotion with a lighter hold (American Crew Light Hold Texture Lotion), which you would apply while the hair is still damp. The goal is to avoid the look and feel of product in the hair. You might also finish the ends with a little pomade.

HALO recommends clients to shampoo no more than every other day. When it comes to shampooing, less is more and hair styles better when its a day or so dirty and it requires less product as well.

Rock star Look: Vintage Madonna
Hair Tips

Kelly Cardenas' salon tells clients to not spend 12 hours on curling your hair! You don't want to look like you are going to prom, but up-styles are fun and easy to get for a cute look day or night! A little texturizing product to amp up the bed head and 10 little hair pins is all you need. Just grab a big ribbon from a fabric store and create a DIY bow for a little added sass! Hair accessories are HUGE right now so have fun with it!

HAIR TIPS

This hairstyle is more of what Cassie at HALO likes to call "shmedium" because it is a shorter medium length. The look is usually achieved by a cut with a razor to give the hair that shredded, textured look. Overall, the style is messier throughout the entire head and not just the top. The best products to use would be some sort of high hold paste (American Crew Fiber or Defining Paste). To get the windproof strong hold finish it off with a shot of hairspray.

Paste products are a bit heavy so it is key to work it in your hands and then apply it so that it will go on easily and evenly. Always start working the product in the lower crown, moving forward and work your hands through your hair as if you are shampooing with it. This movement will make the hair as messy as possible and you can move the hair into the shape you want.

Rock star Look: Lady Gaga
Hair Tips

Extreme length is very in, and women are feeling sexier than ever with extra long hair these days so to achieve this look get some hair extensions! It is recommended to have them applied professionally which we often do at Kelly Cardenas Salon. As discussed, hair accessories are huge, so get creative with them! Try an old necklace or some earrings that you don't wear, whatever! It's not just about regular bows and flowers anymore!

To top off this look, we're talking bling, bling BLONDE!!!! Ask your stylist for a "Platinum Card" (An all over platinum blonde transformation without the breakage!!) And don't forget your "Bling": A Kelly Cardenas Signature Series exclusive new Moroccan oil hair treatment serum!
