Officers were responding to a call of shots fired near Kedzie and West 15th Street. They saw a man who got in a van and took off.
According to police, the van stopped in the 1900-block of South Sawyer, the suspect got out and pointed a gun at officers.
Police responded by shooting the suspect. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
No officers were injured.
