Early morning fires injure firefighters, others

August 16, 2010 (CHICAGO) The fire appears to have started in one home in the 5000-block of West Chicago and spread to two neighboring buildings and a church, as well.

There was no word yet on how the fire started, but ABC7 Chicago was told fire crews had the blaze under control.

One firefighter suffered burns, while another was injured in a fall. Both are expected to be ok.

The other two people injured were not seriously hurt.

In another part of town, three people were hurt after a fire in a high-rise building in the Woodlawn neighborhood early Monday.

That fire broke out on the 21st floor of the building in the 6400-block of South Stony Island Avenue.

One of the people injured suffered burns and is the person who called 9-1-1 about the fire.

There was no official word yet on the cause of the fire.
