Fire kills nine horses in NW Ind. barn

A suspicious fire killed nine horses at a barn in northwest Indiana.

It happened about 11:15 Thursday night at 28th and Wright Street in Gary.

The Post-Tribune reports that a detective from the Indiana State Fire Marshal's office found an accelerant at the scene.

Firefighters worked for about two hours to put out the fire. One horse survived the fire but it is suffering from burns.

There is no word yet on who owns the barn.
