'Transformers' detours 12 CTA buses

August 23, 2010 Washington and Madison streets will both be closed between Wabash and Michigan avenues from 7 p.m. Monday until 6 a.m. Friday.

Crews have been filming in the city all summer. So far, that's included helicopters flying in the area for aerial shots, stunt parachutists, crashed cars and sets that make parts of the city's popular shopping district on Michigan Avenue look like it's in ruins.

The movie stars Shia LaBeouf, Patrick Dempsey, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich and model Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

The movie is due in theaters next summer.

During this week's closures, the following detours will be in effect along 12 CTA bus routes. Customers are advised to allow extra travel time.

#14 Jeffery Express
Northbound #14 buses will operate over the regular route along Michigan to Adams then will travel via Adams, State to Madison and then resume the regular route. Southbound #14 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.

#20 Madison (to Randolph/Columbus Only)*
Eastbound #20* buses traveling to Randolph/Columbus will travel over the regular route along Washington to Clark then will operate via Clark, Monroe to Michigan and then resume the regular route past Washington.

From Randolph/Columbus, westbound #20* buses will continue west on Randolph past Michigan to State then will operate via State to Madison and then resume the regular route.

#20 Madison and #56 Milwaukee
Eastbound #20 and southbound #56 buses will travel over their regular routes along Washington to Clark then will operate via Clark, Monroe, State to Madison before turning to begin their reverse trips. From Madison/State, westbound #20 and northbound #56 buses will travel west on Madison and then resume their regular routes.

#60 Blue Island/26th and #157 Streeterville/Taylor
Eastbound #60 and northbound #157 buses will operate over their regular routes along Washington to Clark then will travel via Clark, Monroe to Michigan and then resume their regular routes.

Westbound #60 and southbound #157 buses will travel over their regular routes along Michigan to Randolph then will operate via Randolph, State to Madison and then resume their regular routes.

#124 Navy Pier
Westbound #124 buses will travel over the regular route along Michigan to Randolph then will operate via Randolph, State to Madison and then resume the regular route. Eastbound #124 buses are not affected and will travel over the regular route.

#147 Outer Drive Express and #151 Sheridan
Northbound #147 and #151 buses will travel over their regular routes along State past Washington to Lake then will operate via Lake to Michigan and then resume their regular routes. Southbound #147 and #151 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.

Owl Service Detours
The following reroutes only will be in effect during Owl Service hours:

#4 Cottage Grove (Owl Service)
Northbound #4 buses will travel over the regular route to State/Washington before turning to beginning southbound service. From State/Washington, southbound #4 buses will travel south on State to Monroe then will operate via Monroe to Michigan and then resume the regular route.

#20 Madison and #60 Blue Island/26th (Owl Service)
Eastbound #20 and #60 buses will operate over their regular routes to Washington/State before turning to begin their reverse trips. From Washington/State, westbound #20 and #60 buses will travel south on State to Madison and then resume their regular routes west on Madison.

#66 Chicago and #151 Sheridan (Owl Service)
From State/Washington, westbound #66 buses and northbound #151 buses will travel north on State to Lake then will operate via Lake to Michigan and then resume their regular routes. Eastbound #66 buses and southbound #151 buses are not affected and will travel over their regular routes.
