DOG DAY ON THE GREEN (PRESS RELEASE) :

"Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle presents 2nd Annual 'Dog Day on the Green'"

On August 29, 2010 the office of Chicago City Clerk Miguel del Valle is presenting the annual "Dog Day on the Green," a free family festival for dog owners, dog lovers, canine companions, and advocates to come learn about dog related issues.

The event, at Montrose Harbor where Simonds and Montrose drives meet, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Guests can partake in exciting educational activities for both owners and pets. In addition, the City Clerk's office will be taking dog registration applications on-site.

The American Cancer Society's Bark For Life will kick off "Dog Day On The Green" at 9 a.m. with a one-mile walk. Bark For Life honors the life-long love, support and compassion dogs bring to cancer patients and their families. The money raised through Bark For Life will help the Society save lives by helping people stay well, get well, find cures and fight back.

"Dog Day on the Green" will also have numerous interactive activities, educational seminars, and an array of local vendors catering to Chicago's canine community. Attractions will include: Hawk City K9 agility course, Ken Henry and Coral Reef demonstration, Fly Dogs Training, and many more. There also will be an educational area to help families learn more about caring for their pets and a kids corner sponsored by The Anti-Cruelty Society Chicago Chapter and Project Safe Humane, where children and dogs can play, and learn together in a safe and controlled environment.

"The City Clerk's office is responsible for registering all dogs in the city," said City Clerk del Valle. "Our Dog Day on the Green event reminds dog owners about the importance and value in registering your dog with the city. Residents will also learn about dog adoptions, hear tips from veterinarians and dog trainers and learn the latest trends in dog care."

Also, we are glad to announce Steve Dale will be our master of ceremonies for the "Dog Day on the Green" event. Mr. Dale, a prestigious pet expert and certified dog and cat behavior consultant, is a member of our Dog Task Force, and host of his own radio show Steve Dale's Pet World on WLS radio will be the master of ceremonies of "Dog Day on the Green". The public will have the opportunity to interact with Steve and get advice on how to develop a healthful relationship with their pets.
