Roosevelt Road work in western suburbs to begin

September 3, 2010

The stretch of Roosevelt road between Austin and Harlem Avenues is going to be repaved. The ceremony was held Friday morning.

In addition, sidewalks will be widened so the area becomes more pedestrian-friendly.

The project is expected to put more than 100 people to work.

Governor Quinn spoke at the ceremony, saying "there's a lot of other good things all over Oak Park, Cicero and Berwyn, and it is important that we have the kind of streetscape that really invites people to come in."

The $8 million construction project is expected to be finished by October of 2011.

It's being funded by the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program.
