Court to resume over Asian carp issue

September 6, 2010 (CHICAGO) Five Great Lakes states are suing the federal government to force the closing of Chicago area shipping locks. Attorneys from Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota will make their case. They plan to argue that Asian Carp could destroy the fishing industry, if they get into the Great Lakes.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says closing the locks may not stop Asian Carp and could even make the problem worse.
