Fall Footwear from Taryn Rose

September 9, 2010 (PRESS RELEASE)

An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rose www.tarynrose.com changed the footwear industry in 1998 by creating a line of luxury shoes that are as fashionable as they are functional. In her orthopedic practice, Dr. Rose saw patients with many serious foot problems that were caused by high heels and pointed toes. Being a lover of beautiful footwear, her own feet ached after 14-hour days in shoes with three-inch heels. So she decided set out to prove that stylish shoes do not have to ruin women's feet. Taryn Rose International started in a garage and grew to a multi-million dollar business with boutiques all over the country. She sold the business two years ago.

Now designing shoes again, Dr. Rose is introducing two new lines: Haute Footure, available exclusively at Neiman-Marcus stores, and High Heel Power which she created for the Home Shopping Network www.hsn.com. She launched High Heel Power on HSN in May and sold out. The second collection is due out in this month. High Heel Power features footwear, handbag and leg wear with cushioned soles and non-slip treads.

For the first time, Dr. Rose has created line of skincare products for feet under the High Heal Power label. The "sole saver" products include Platform Pump moisturizer; Rocket Leg after-shave cream; Sandal Savior daily foot scrub, and Stiletto Stick Foot Numbing Spray. These products are priced from $19.99-$39.99.

"All women deserve to feel good in their shoes" Dr. Rose says. "High Heal Power is the brand I created for women everywhere who must multi-task, balance a budget while looking good and wanting to take care of herself."

Haute Footure debuted in July at Neiman stores across the country. Dr. Rose calls it "a footwear collection for women who love fashion and worship their feet." All styles feature a new gel insole that mimics the padding of woman's foot to provide extra cushioning and includes ballerinas, mid heels, platforms, booties and boots. Haute Footure shoes feature a signature flirty lip design stitched onto the arch and a pink outer sole. Fashion details for fall include chains, leopard prints, soft and shiny textures, tailored bows, and sparkling crystals

"I developed a feminine, fashion-forward, sophisticated collection that will appeal to women who wield power and sensuality with equal success," the shoe designer says.

Dr. Rose will introduce the new line to Chicago women on Friday night, when Neiman's on Michigan Avenue hosts "Fashion's Night Out" from 6 to 8 pm. Michelle Alegria from ABC 7's 190 North will host a fashion show at the event, which also features makeovers from Estee Lauder. Dr. Taryn Rose created one of today's most successful brands, Taryn Rose footwear. An orthopedic surgeon turned shoe designer, Dr. Rose married fashion and function in 1999 and changed the footwear industry forever. Her idea of being dressed with a sense of well-being touched a nerve with women from coast-to-coast, creating a dedicated following for her footwear collections. A formally trained surgeon, Dr. Rose witnessed the serious foot problems caused by fashion footwear. A high heel lover herself, Dr. Rose saw a need to combine her knowledge of foot biomechanics and passion for fashion to spread ease to women everywhere. What started in a garage grew to a multi-million dollar business with boutiques all over the country.

Now, after a two-year hiatus, Dr. Rose is back in the market introducing her new brand, High Heel Power for HSN. Rose has also teamed with high-end specialty retailer Neiman Marcus to launch Haute Footure in July.

Rose has been featured on CNN News Night with Aaron Brown, Oprah, Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer, Discovery Channel's Berman and Berman, National Public Radio "All Thing Considered," Fine Living Network's "Radical Sabbatical," Later Today Show and news shows across the country. Fashion editorials include In Style, Lucky, O Magazine, British Vogue, Shop, More, Harper's Bazaar, Town and Country, Allure, Elle, Vanity Fair, WWD, etc.

In addition to earning her medical degree from University of California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, Dr. Rose has been recognized for her numerous honors: In 2006 The Women's Leadership Exchange group honored Dr. Rose with the Compass Award for shifting the paradigm of how women are perceived as business leaders. Women's President's Organization and Fast Company ranked her first in a new entrepreneurial competition of distinction, "25 Women Entrepreneurs Who Are Changing the Game" (2005). New York Moves magazine recognized her as one of the most powerful women in New York City (2005); she was highlighted as a distinguished role model and entrepreneur in the city of Los Angeles during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (2003); recognized by the Women's Venture Fund as an outstanding entrepreneur during the Highest Leaf Awards in New York (2003), and by the Small Business Administration as one of four outstanding women entrepreneurs honored during the 50th Anniversary of the SBA in Washington DC (2003). The Women's Entrepreneurial Conference featuring Martha Stewart selected her for their distinguished panel of female entrepreneurs (2007) and she was a featured panelist at the 2009 Pink Magazine "Fall Empowerment Series" in New York City. Rose is scheduled to speak at Women's Entrepreneurs "Rock The World" conference in NYC in May.
