Romeoville oil leak forces evacuations

September 9, 2010 (ROMEOVILLE, Ill.)

Oil began pooling along a stretch of Romeoville's Parkwood Avenue around noon. Both the state and federal EPA, along with the Romeoville Fire Department, responded to the spill.

Several businesses in the area were evacuated as a precaution. There were no injuries.

It's not clear how much oil was spilled.

The pipeline belongs to Enbridge Energy Partners. Enbridge was also involved in a pipeline spill in July along the Kalamazoo River in southwest Michigan.
