Thirty-five-year-old Yolanda Jones, of Zion, faces two counts of first-degree murder in the beating death of Tommy Davis III, of Park Forest.
Police in Zion say Jones was pregnant and in labor last Monday when she brought the 5-year-old to a hospital in Zion. He was pronounced dead when they arrived at the hospital.
Jones gave birth to her own sixth child later the same day.
The Lake County coroner determined Tommy Davis died of blunt force trauma to the head. Zion Police say Jones later admitted to beating the child over a two-day period because he had wet the bed.
Jones is being held on $3 million bond.
