Gary Comer College Prep was filled with dignitaries, teachers and students as Mayor Daley cut the ribbon to formally open the charter school.
It is next door to the Gary Comer Youth Center at 7200 S. Ingleside Avenue.
The 42,000 square-foot school features large classrooms and a green roof which absorbs carbon dioxide and prevents storm water runoff.
