The Centers for Disease Control, CDC, says two of every three pediatric poisonings that result in an emergency room visit are caused by medication overdoses. In fact, it's double the rate of poisonings from things such as cleaning substances and pesticides.
Nearly 10 percent of al poisonings of children under the age of 5 involve common painkillers.
Experts say, to protect children, over-the-counter medications should be kept in a locked cabinet out of a child's reach.
