September 24, 2010

Sears on Friday announced it will open new toy shops as it looks for a bigger bite of the holiday sales pie.

The new shops are aimed at moms of 2- to 5-year-olds.

Chicago is one of 85 markets nationwide where Sears plans to allocate floor space to toy shops.

Macy's says it will hire more workers this holiday season.

The retailer plans to hire 65,000 holiday employees, which is a slight increase from previous years.

Macy's is anticipating solid sales growth for the rest of the year. Just in time for the holiday season, Target announced it will begin selling iPads.

Four models of Apple's popular touch-screen tablet computer will be sold, starting at $499.

Target will offer a 5 percent discount for Target card holders.

The iPads will go on sale October 3rd.
