Continental Airlines to start charging for meals

Continental Airlines says it will stop offering free meals soon. Starting October 12, passengers will have to pay.Prices will range from $1.50 for potato chips to $8.25 for a grilled chicken spinach salad.

Continental will still have free food in coach on international flights and domestic flights longer than six hours.

The airline says it expects to save $35 million each year.
