Valuable instruments were stolen from a celebrated Chicago jazz musician and her bandmates after a concert in Italy.

Flutist Nicole Mitchell tells The Chicago Tribune that someone stole her solid silver flute and piccolo in Milan last month.

Mitchell and her Black Earth Ensemble had finished a sold out concert then went to a restaurant.

Mitchell says someone broke into the trunk of their vehicle and stole most of their instruments and some personal belongings.

Her flute and piccolo are both valued between $10,000 and $15,000.
