The school's cheerleaders fired up those attending the ceremonies.
The mayor said the greatest gift he can give any child is a quality education.
Johnson Publishing Chair, Linda Johnson Rice, stressed that her parents were committed to excellence.
"It is my hope that Johnson College Prep's class of 2014 will be next in line to carry on the Johnson family legacy of success," she said.
Rice also told the students they are up to the challenge, and she predicted they will all succeed.
